what you need:

• internet access
• new Capital One Bank Card
• your current/activate Capital One Bank Card
• social security number or tax ID number
• valid email address or phone number that was previously submitted to Capital One
• more personal information

what to do:

• visit www.capitalone.com/activate
  
• click on the green “START HERE” button
• click on the green “YES I’M READY” button
• from the drop down box, select the type of account you have
• type in your account number which is the card number found on the front of the card
• from the drop down box, select and enter in you birth date
• type in you social security number
• create and type in a new user name for logging in twice in the appropriate fields
• create and type in a password for logging in twice in the appropriate fields
• type in a valid email address that Capital One can send official emails to twice in the appropriate fields
• click on the green “CONTINUE” button
• provide all the required information on the “For Your Security” screen and then continue
• provide all the required information on the “Verify Your Account” screen and then continue
• provide all the required information on the “Additional Options” screen and then continue
• you will not receive a confirmation screen and email confirmation that you did successfully activate your Capital One Bank Card
