www.netzero.net- How to Install NetZero Mail
NetZero is an Internet service provider (ISP) that offers you the ability to create unlimited email addresses for free. It provides several levels of ISP accounts, including both paid and free versions. All NetZero users can access their email accounts via a proprietary Web-based interface directly on the NetZero site. The company also allows its paying customers to install a POP email server on an offline email reader client, such as Microsoft Windows Live Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird or Eudora. In this way, you can access and work with your email while offline.
1. Launch your email client. Purchase email client software such as Microsoft Outlook, or download one of many free clients, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail or Eudora (see References and Resources).
2. Add a new email account. Click on "Tools" or "Options," depending on your software, and select the option that reads something like "New Account," "New Mail Account" or "Account Options."
3. Follow the onscreen instructions to add your new account. Your email address will be "memberid@netzero.com," where "memberid" is your member ID. When prompted for your account information, enter your member ID as your account name and your password in the appropriate fields. Some email clients may install the rest of the account for you, automatically populating the fields for the correct POP and SMTP servers (incoming and outgoing mail servers, respectively) for you. If not, proceed to the next step.
4. Enter NetZero's incoming and outgoing mail server information when prompted. The POP (incoming) mail server for NetZero is "pop.netzero.com", and the SMTP (outgoing) mail server is "authsmtp.netzero.com".
5. Test the setup configuration by sending a test email from your NetZero account addressed to yourself. If it sends and receives correctly, you have successfully installed your NetZero email account onto your computer.
