You should make your cheque payable to 'Egg, (Account holder name (s)), (Account number)'. Eg Egg, Mr Smith, 12345678 (draw a line through any unused space on the payee line so that no-one can add extra numbers or words).

Your cheque is likely to be returned if it is only made payable to 'Egg'.

When you make a cheque payment, it will be applied to your account within three business days to prevent further interest accruing, but it won't increase the available credit until fully cleared.

Your cheque payment will be applied to your account when it clears. As we're not a clearing bank, cheques can take 7 to 10 business days to clear. The central clearing cycle only applies to cheques paid into most clearing bank accounts (where clearance normally takes three business days). During this period you will not be able to spend against the value of the cheque.

The payment timescales referred to above are subject to satisfactory completion of all fraud and crime prevention checks.
